2021 St Leger: Aiden O’Brien sending four into Doncaster Classic
Aiden O’Brien is running High Definition, Sir Lucan, The Mediterranean and High Definition in the 2021 St Leger while Irish Derby hero Hurricane Lane is firm odds-on favourite to give Charlie Appleby a first win in the oldest Classic in the world.
Hurricane Lane will be lining-up against nine rivals as he bids to triumph in the 2021 Cazoo St Leger at Doncaster Racecourse on Saturday afternoon. The Charlie Appleby-trained colt is short priced at odds-on for the last English Classic of the season having won all-but-one of his last five starts in 2021, his only defeat being in the Epsom Derby in June where he finished third behind Adayar. This son of Frankel has already bagged a couple of Group Ones with wins in the Grand Prix de Paris and the Irish Derby.

Success in the Irish Derby for Charlie Appleby-trained Hurricane Lane and jockey William Buick
Aiden O’Brien has won this race six times previously and he has declared four of his six entries in the race, High Definition will be partnered by Frankie Dettori while Hollie Doyle will be aboard Interpretation. Wayne Lordan will be partnering The Mediterranean and James Doyle is to be on Sir Lucan.
Johnny Murtagh will be hoping for a fifth successive win for Irish raider Ottoman Emperor. He triumphed in a Cork maiden back in April and has enjoyed increasing success since then with a win in a Gowran handicap two months later before winning at Navan prior to moving up to Group Three level with victory in the Goodwood Gordon Stakes two months ago.
Runner-up in the Epsom Derby, Mojo Star, will be looking to have another shot at Classic glory while Youth Spirit – who finished third in the Voltigeur in his last outing and fourth behind Ottoman Emperor at Goodwood prior to that – will be running for Andrew Balding who came close to winning the race last year with Berkshire Rocco beaten by a neck.
