Betway Bowl: Tiger Roll and Native River confirmed runners

Ireland utterly dominated in the 2021 Gold Cup at the Cheltenham Festival last month although of the British leading chasers it was Native River who fared best of all. He was no match for Minella Indo in this race, however he stayed on to valiantly finish in fourth place and he is currently the top-rated British performer over fences with a BHA mark of 170. He will be ridden in the Betway Bowl by Jonjo O’Neill Jr due to the recent retirement of usual jockey Richard Johnson.

Another runner set to line-up in the Bowl is Clan Des Obeaux, while Tiger Roll‘s appearance has also been confirmed. The two-time Grand National winner roared back to his previous best when triumphing in impressive fashion in the Cross Country at the Cheltenham Festival last month and once again, Jack Kennedy will get the leg up on this very popular chaser.

Amongst the others confirmed for the Betway Bowl is Mister Fisher who was pulled up in the Cheltenham Festival Ryanair Chase. Trainer Nicky Henderson said: “I’ve been dying to try him over three miles as it has looked exactly what he has wanted.

“It is rather unfair he comes here on the back of saying pulled up in the Ryanair as he ran a really good race. Coming down the hill Allaho and Min were going flat to the boards and Fisher was on their tails, but he had been flat out for a long way. He ran really well.

“He looked like finishing third then did get tired and Nico [de Boinville] quite rightly looked after him. I think three miles on good ground around here will help tell us where we go next season.”
