Galvin and Conflated are just two of fourteen horses to be scratched while 78 remain in contention for the Aintree marathon.

With fourteen horses being scratched at the most recent forfeit stage for the 2022 Randox Grand National, Chris’s Dream heads the weights for the contest. The Henry De Bromhead-trained contender will carry a burden of 11st 10lbs at this year’s Grand National on Saturday, 9th April, while the likes of Melon, Galvin and Conflated have been withdrawn from the contest.

Last year’s winner, Minella Times, is just 1lb below top weight and as such he will be required to carry a heftier load if he’s to make it two on the bounce at Aintree in 2022. The likes of Escaria Ten, Delta Work and Any Second Now will take their places in the final field of 40 runners, assuming that they are declared at the final stage 48 hours before the race.

Delta Work, winner of the Cheltenham Cross Country chase earlier this month ahead of now-retired Tiger Roll, will be facing the prospect of carrying a burden of 11st 8lbs. Escaria Ten was beaten by a nose against Any Second Now in the Bobbyjo Chase at Fairyhouse last month and the duo are set to be burdened with 11st and 11st 7lbs respectively for the Grand National.
