Ciaran Murphy lining up Enjoy D’allen for 2022 Grand National
Westmeath trainer Ciaran Murphy is aiming big as he looks to aim consistent chaser Enjoy D’allen towards the 2022 Randox Grand National on 9th April. The eight-year-old finished third in the Paddy Power Chase in the Christmas meeting at Leopardstown and it was with this in mind that he has been considered for the world’s most famous steeplechase. This win came soon after an impressive showing in the Irish Grand National where he also finished third behind Freewheelin Dylan and Conor Orr is set to partner the runner at Aintree on 9th April.
The Mulling handler said: “We were delighted with his run in the Paddy Power. He ran a cracker, jumped brilliantly and stayed on great. He was giving the first two plenty of weight and it is encouraging going forward with him.
“He had plenty of racing last year, but was always going to have a light campaign this season. The Aintree National would be the main target.
“He’s (rated) 148 now so he’s going to get in. He’ll probably have a run over hurdles and then go straight there. We think we have the right profile for the race going on horses that have won it other years and what he has done. We’ll have a crack at it and hope for the best.”
