Good Boy Bobby to be aimed at Randox Grand National

The Aintree Grand National is now the main target for Good Boy Bobby following his excellent victory in the William Hill Rowland Meyrick Chase at Wetherby on Boxing Day.

This was dual Grand National-winning trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies’ first win in the race and the trainer was full of admiration for the great resolution and guts shown by the horse. Ridden by his son Sam, Good Boy Bobby was prominent throughout the contest and his task was made all the more easier when Empire Steel crashed out at the fourth while travelling well on deteriorating ground.

By the time the last fence was reached, the winner was under pressure from former winner Top Ville Ben as well as Lord Du Mesnil and at this stage, all three were in with a chance of claiming the spoils. Nevertheless it was Good Boy Bobby who asserted himself and his resolution and determination prevailed at the end.

Following this arduous contest, trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies stated that the horse will be needing a lay-off but his sights are now very much set on Aintree on 9th April. Victorious jockey Sam Twiston-Davies was quick to praise Daryl Jacob who has been forced onto the sidelines through injury and is the retained jockey to winning connections.

The 2022 Randox Grand National will take place on Saturday, 9th April and a few tickets are still available. To ensure your ticket for the big event, visit our Grand National Tickets page where you can still snap up one of the few tickets for the famous steeplechase.
