Jack Kennedy and Davy Russell – who won the Randox Health Grand National with Tiger Roll in 2018 and 2019 – have been sidelined for several weeks after suffering injuries at Limerick Racecourse on Sunday afternoon.
Russell fell at the first fence in the Munster National while on board Doctor Duffy while Kennedy came off Etincelle Lioterie three flights from home in the opening Listed novice hurdle. Kennedy had only returned to competitive racing following his recovery from a broken leg he received at Leopardstown early this year.
It was reported by the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board that Russell has sustained an injury to his neck as well as a vertebrae fracture while Kennedy has a collarbone fracture. Both jockeys will likely be out of action for several weeks.
Gordon Elliott has hinted of a possible appearance for Tiger Roll later this month, the most likely outing for the dual Grand National winner being the Ladbrokes Champion Chase at Down Royal.
