Eight-year-old Kimberlite Candy staked a huge claim for the 2020 Randox Health Grand National when triumphing in the Classic Chase at Warwick, the same race which One For Arthur won before finishing first in the 2017 National.
The JP McManus-owned runner went up to 10lb and a mark of 150 thanks to his victory over Captain Chaos in last month’s valuable handicap and he also has experience of the big fences at Aintree with the runner having finished second in the Becher Chase to Walk In The Mill two months ago.
Lacey said: “He’s in great nick. He’s fresh and well and will go straight to Aintree.
“I don’t think we’ll go for a racecourse gallop. We’ll prepare him at home.
“We’ll see whether he goes to jump an Aintree-style fence. He jumped well round Aintree the last day.”
Kimberlite Candy is an ante-post price of 20/1 to win the 2020 Randox Health Grand National on April 4th, the market still led by two-time favourite Tiger Roll who will be bidding for a third consecutive victory in the world’s most famous steeplechase.
