Lambourn trainer Warren Greatrex is planning on working back from the 2020 Grand National with 2018 Kim Muir winner Missed Approach, the nine-year-old nearing his return from injury.
The runner has been out of action since last winter following a set-back in the build-up to the 2019 Randox Health Grand National, however Greatrex is hopeful that he can have him back out on the track before the end of January 2020.
The trainer said: “Missed Approach is coming along well. He has done plenty of cantering – it has all been very pleasing, and all of his old enthusiasm is still there.
“We will look to find a race at the end of January for him. He won’t run over hurdles – because we tried that before, and he made me look silly – but he could run in a veterans’ chase.
“The Grand National will be the plan, and I hope he can get there. I think he would probably need two runs before the race, given that he has not run for a while.”
Missed Approach is an ante-post price of 40/1 with William Hill Bookmakers in the 2020 Randox Health Grand National on April 4th.
