Following a wave of money been aimed at the Mullins inmate, he has become the biggest rival to last year’s winner Corach Rambler who is a best price of 9/2 to successfully defend his crown.
Only Hopes
Nevertheless, while a win for I Am Maximus would be sweet for Willie Mullins, it would be less so for Nicky Henderson who used to train the runner and who has been rocked by Constitution Hill’s suspected colic which forced the unbeaten superstar to miss out on the Champion Hurdle this year. 73-year-old Henderson has never before claimed victory in the Aintree Grand National and for the 2024 renewal, his only hopes lie with 100/1 shot Fantastic Lady.
Fantastic Lady is currently 42nd on the list of possible contenders at this latest stage and as such, the nine-year-old would need some to come out in order to take part in the marathon.
