Odds slashed on Total Recall in 2020 Grand National

Numerous leading bookmakers have halved the odds on Total Recall triumphing in the 2020 Grand National on April 4th following his surprise victory at Gowran Park. Indeed having been priced at 50/1 to win the famous steeplechase at Aintree prior to his last outing, his best price is now 33/1 with some Grand National bookies going as low as 25/1.

The 11-year-old went off as a 16/1 shot with the leading Grand National bookies at Gowran Park, however his class soon became apparent as he finished relatively comfortably ahead of stablemate Class Conti in the 3m1f Goffs Thyestes Handicap Chase under Danny Mullins.

Totall Recall became a hero back in 2017 when he triumphed in the Ladbrokes Trophy, however he had a tough time of things last year with a string of disappointing results.

This latest victory reignited interest amongst punters with a hoped-for appearance in the big race at Aintree on April 4th a very interesting proposition for the veteran chaser.

Trainer Willie Mullins said: “It was great to see Total Recall winning another big handicap. I didn’t think he could after winning the Ladbrokes Trophy and Munster National. I thought Chef Des Obeaux might have been our one today but he was pulled-up early.

“”Danny said he missed the break, but he was as cool as a cucumber and he got two or three quick jumps down the back and that put him into the race. He stays and stays – he stays all day. After missing the break I didn’t think he had the gears to get himself back into contention. They went a strong pace up front and I think that helped him.”
