Long-term Grand National favourite Cloth Cap still sits at the summit of the market but he has drifted out to around 11/2 across the board as punters turn to veterans on the day of the National. Second favourite Burrows Saint has also drifted noticeably from a general 8/1 to around 10/1 with most bookmakers who also offer some exclusive Grand National free bets.
Punters seem to be hunting out larger priced alternatives to the principles in the market and the big winner in this regard has been Takingrisks who has shortened substantially over the past couple of days. The 12-year-old was up for grabs at as much as 40/1 on Thursday, however some firms are now going as low as 12/1. Yesterday some firms saw a noticeable shift for veteran Sub Lieutenant who has experience over the Grand National fences and was shortened from 60/1 into just 40/1 overnight. Most firms now go a general 50/1.
