Snow Leopardess guaranteed a run in 2022 Randox Grand National
Delight for Charlie Longsdon and connections as Snow Leopard guaranteed a run in the 2022 Randox Grand National
A maximum field of 40 runners is allowed at the Grand National and Charlie Longsdon-trained Snow Leopardess is number 38 on the list of entries for the world’s greatest steeplechase. This will be a great relief to connections of the mare, however they will all be hoping for some give in the ground between now and Grand National day.
Snow Leopardess proved her undoubted aptitude for the unique Aintree fences with a narrow win on soft ground in the Becher Chase in December and having won each of her three contests this season, she will be attracting interest in the National betting markets.
Longsdon said: “It’s great she’s in. Now it’s up to us to get ourselves organised and get her there, so fingers crossed.
“She’s very well, she worked this morning. She’ll go and jump the National fences in Lambourn at the end of the week and do a bit of work down there and we’ll probably just do bits and bobs until the race.
“We’d love some rain. It doesn’t have to be too slow, it just helps – a little bit of rain would do no harm at all.”
Conflated, Melon and Galvin were the top three in the weights when they were announced and these are amongst a total of fourteen taken out at the latest scratching stage on Tuesday. The others were Back On The Lash, Braeside, Cloudy Glen, Windsor Avenue, Ontheropes, Milan Native, Kapcourse, Jett, Itchy Feet, Franco De Port and Chantry House.
Chris’s Dream heads the weights at 11st 10lb while stablemate and 2021 winner Minella Times has been given a burden of 11st 9lb.
