Supercomputer predicts winner of 2024 Grand National
34 horses will be competing in the world’s greatest steeplechase on Saturday afternoon and thousands of eager punters will be desperate to know who will be finishing first past the post.
Numbers reduced
2023 Grand National winner Corach Rambler has been tipped to follow in the footsteps of Tiger Roll and Red Rum by winning the Grand National twice in successive years on Saturday afternoon. The Lucinda Russell inmate romped home to victory at the iconic Aintree Racecourse twelve months ago and the man in the saddle this time around will once again be Derek Fox. Corach Rambler will be in a field of up to 34 runners for the famous contest after the numbers were reduced from 40 due to safety concerns.
Shortened odds
This reduction in the number of runners naturally results in a shortening of the odds for the favourite, however there will nevertheless be extremely strong competition in what is always a hugely unpredictable contest. Having ridden 2017 winner One For Arthur, Fox is going all-out to clinch his third win in what – at four miles, two furlongs and 74 yards in length – is the UK’s longest jumps race.
Supercomputer
Backing a winner in this marathon is very hard but a supercomputer has been used to predict who the winner is most likely to be in 2024, with the assistance of some very clever coding, ratings and bookmaker odds. The race has been simulated around 1000 times by the supercomputer in order to ensure the best accuracy and all things considered, 2023 winner Corach rambler has been determined as the most likely winner this year with a 13% chance, ahead of I Am Maximum who has been given a perceived chance of 9.3% chance and Vanillier with 6.2%. 2022 victor Noble Yeats is way back with a perceived 2.6% chance.
