For the second successive year, the Grand National was won by the favourite with Willie Mullins-trained I Am Maximum finishing first past the post under Paul Townend at odds of 7/1. This was the first win for the trainer in the famous steeplechase since 2005. In the home straight, I Am Maximus costed well clear of biggest threat, 28/1 shot Delta Work, who finished second by seven and a half lengths and Rachael Blackmore rode Minella Indo into third place at 28/1.
