E/W Value on Truckers Lodge and Dominateur in Welsh Grand National

Welsh Grand National Odds

It looks as though the festive period will be going exactly the same way as the rest of the year, however while the vast majority of us will be missing our loved ones over Christmas, we can still look forward to some top-quality racing along the way.

The 2020 Welsh Grand National will once again take centre stage on Sunday 27th December and this is a race we always look forward to. Chepstow Racecourse has witnessed some grand stagers win this famous race throughout the years and while there will be very few cheering on the winner from the largely-silent grandstands this weekend, that certainly won’t be affecting the quality of the racing.

The ground will be extremely testing but that should come as no huge surprise given that this venue is invariably hit with serious wintry conditions in late December. Some bookies are paying five places on this race and as such there is plenty of value to be had, therefore we’re going to hunt out some value each-way betting away from the favourites. Trucker’s Lodge immediately comes to mind despite the runner being handed a hefty rise in weights to the tune of 16lb, this coming largely from his win in the Midlands National. He will be happy enough with the conditions at Chepstow this weekend and at odds of 8/1 we’re more than happy to take our chances.

For those seeking something a little heftier, Oliver Sherwood’s Dominateur is lightly raced and comes alive at this venue in these conditions. He lookes pretty well handicapped for the Welsh National and at odds of 16/1 he certainly represents value for those who fancy him on an each-way punt.
