Animal rights group planning to stop 2023 Grand National
There are fears that the 2023 Randox Grand National could be under threat following reports that an animal rights group is planning to disrupt the world-famous horse race.
An animal rights group has confirmed that it plans to cause chaos at Aintree Racecourse on Saturday, 15th April as they try and prevent the 2023 Grand National from going ahead. The latest renewal of the world-famous steeplechase is set to get underway at 5:15pm on Saturday afternoon but the spectacle is under threat due to the protestors who are aiming to put to an end horse racing in this country.
Spokesman for ‘Animal Rising’, Ben Newman, made clear the group’s plans with regard to the 2023 Grand National. He claimed that horse racing was wrong and that claimed that the group members looking to stop the race would be using their ‘bodies’. Newman also disagreed with using horses at the King’s coronation which will take place early next month however the group has no plans to protest at this event.
While the potential for disruption remains high despite plans being put in place for a massively increased police presence, the Grand National itself is far safer for horses than it has been in the past with smaller and easier fences and less casualties as a result. The structure of each fence has been altered so that horses can effectively run right through them with less risk of injury, while landing areas have been levelled off, thus creating far less disparity between the take off and landing sides of each National obstacle.
