Brian Hayes aiming for Grand National glory aboard Mr Incredible

Brian Hayes found himself edged out by a thoroughly impressive Paul Townend ride in the 2023 Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse on Monday afternoon, however he is optimistic about his chances in the Aintree equivalent on Saturday when he partners maverick Mr Incredible.

Willie Mullins inmate Mr Incredible is an extremely talented if somewhat eccentric character and the seven-year-old will be aiming to put his best foot forward once again when he lines up in the 2023 Randox Grand national in just three days time. The runner has been handed a burden of 10st 4lb for the Aintree showpiece, a race in which he is currently priced around 14/1.

This horse joined the Willie Mullins stable from Henry De Bromhead in the autumn and thus far he has been lightly raced. He ran a decent third in the Kim Muir Handicap Chase at the Cheltenham Festival last month and could even have won but for unfortunately fluffing last. He possesses a handful of traits from his undoubtedly talented but somewhat eccentric sire Westerner, on one occasion planting himself stubbornly at the start and refusing to take part. As such, things could go either way in the Grand National on Saturday afternoon.

Perhaps hold your bets on Mr Incredible until he has arrived at the start on Saturday afternoon, however should he still be going well after the first circuit, then things could get interesting.
