Jessica Harrington has made it clear that she has absolutely no complaints with regard to the weight allocated to last year’s Grand National runner-up Magic Of Light who will be bidding to go one better when he lines-up in the world-famous steeplechase in just over seven week’s time.
Magic Of Light finished two and three-quarter lengths adrift of two-time winner Tiger Roll twelve months ago and is set to carry a burden of 10st 12lb in this year’s renewal of the race.
Harrington said: “I don’t believe in complaining about weights, there’s no point. I’m happy enough as our mare will be meeting Tiger Roll 4lb better than last year and will have only 1lb more on her back.”
Magic Of Light has triumphed over hurdles and fences this season with a win in a Grade 2 mares’ hurdle at Ascot last time out and prior to that, in a listed mares’ chase at Newbury.
Harrington has stated that Magic Of Light’s next outing will be over hurdles, either in the Grade 3 Quevega Hurdle at Punchestown next week or the Grade 2 Boyne Hurdle at Navan this weekend.
Harrington continued: “Magic Of Light arrived home from the UK this morning and when we see the entries for the Quevega Hurdle we’ll decide which race she’s aimed at.”
Magic Of Light is a general 16/1 ante-post price for the 2020 Randox Health Grand National.
