Organisers confident that 2020 Grand National will still go ahead

With the UK government resisting a complete ban on all major sporting events, organisers of the 2020 Randox Health Grand National are hopeful that the event will still go ahead as scheduled in just over three weeks’ time.

The most famous horse race on the planet is still being planned as normal for 4th April despite massive doubt following the decision by Scotland and the Republic of Ireland to hold all meetings behind closed doors amid the current coronavirus crisis.

Sources close to the Grand National have apparently been assured that the perceived risk to all spectators was manageable as things stand with minimal risk of racegoers infecting each other. The government has been issuing daily briefings and as far as organisers are concerned, it is still business as usual with the racecourse being prepared for the many thousands of eager punters who will pass through the gates over the three days of the Grand National Festival.

Grand National ticket sales remain buoyant with all main stands and terraces being completely sold out. The only available tickets are for The Embankment and these are now in high demand, especially so following the announcement that large-scale horse racing events haven’t been cancelled in England and Wales.
