Scottish Grand National 2025: Final Field Confirmed for Ayr’s £200,000 Showpiece

The stage is set for the 2025 Coral Scottish Grand National, with 23 runners confirmed for Saturday’s prestigious staying chase at Ayr. All eyes will be on the powerful Willie Mullins team, who accounts for six of the final declarations as he intensifies his pursuit of the British Trainers’ Championship.

The Grade 3 contest, worth a total of £200,000, is due off at 3:35pm on Saturday 12th April. A maximum field of 30 was permitted, but with 23 lining up, it remains an ultra-competitive renewal of one of the most storied races in the National Hunt calendar.

Mullins, fresh from a dominant showing at Aintree’s Grand National meeting, sends a formidable squad to Ayr, including 2024 winner Macdermott and progressive types such as Spanish Harlem and Captain Cody. With Dan Skelton still holding the edge in the British trainers’ standings, this represents a key opportunity for Mullins to further close the gap.

Dan Skelton himself is not without chances, with both Sail Away and Snipe declared to run. Elsewhere, strong challengers from top British yards include Famous Bridge for Nicky Richards, Our Power for Sam Thomas, and Henry’s Friend representing Ben Pauling.
The declared field also includes a number of intriguing contenders from smaller yards, as well as familiar names from past spring festivals, making for a diverse and fascinating line-up.
