Tom Lacey reckons Kimberlite Candy can give a good account at Grand National

Tom Lacey, trainer of Grand National 20/1 shot Kimberlite Candy, is full of confidence that his runner will give a good account of himself in the big race on April 4th.

Kimberlite Candy was handed a burden of 10st 4lb when the weights were revealed last week and the trainer was more than happy with this outcome. Lacey stated that Kimberlite candy will be aimed straight into the Grand National on the back of his impressive performance in the Classic Chase.

“He is in good order – a much stronger horse now – he’s really come to himself this year,” Lacey said.

“I thought he was very impressive in the Classic Chase, insofar the way he galloped to the line.

“He’ll go straight to Aintree. All his best runs have been when he’s been fresh. He’s full of confidence, so we’ll look forward to it.

“If we get a wet spring, I don’t see any reason why he won’t go there as a live contender.”

As things stand, Kimberlite Candy is 20/1 in the Grand National ante-post betting with some bookies going as low as 14/1 on the runner.

Tickets for the 2020 Randox Health Grand National continue to sell extremely quickly with all main stands and terraces completely sold out. The only remaining tickets available via the official ticket outlets are for The Embankment which are priced at £40 each.

This enclosure gives excellent views over the Melling Road and the first Grand National fences although it doesn’t give access to the parade ring and associated areas.
