Aintree Racecourse give Merseyside NHS workers 10,000 Grand National Tickets

The complimentary Grand National tickets are being split amongst NHS providers throughout Merseyside.

Aintree Racecourse has given local NHS workers a boost by donating 10,000 free tickets for the 2022 Randox Grand National meeting. NHS staff will be welcomed to the course on the opening day of the three-day meeting on Thursday 7th April, now named ‘Liverpool’s NHS Day’.

Following the cancellation of the 2020 Grand National due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Aintree Racecourse announced that they would be donating 10,000 free tickets to local NHS workers for the 2021 meeting. Nevertheless, with the 2021 renewal having to take place behind closed doors, Aintree have honoured the free ticket offer for the 2022 event.

The 10,000 tickets for the Festival Zone on Liverpool’s NHS Day are to be split between NHS providers on Merseyside. These include Liverpool Women’s Hospital, Clatterbridge, Liverpool University Hospital Trust, Walton Centre and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

Other organisations such as Southport & Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust, St Helens & Whiston Hospitals and Merseycare have also been invited to claim complementary tickets for the event.

Regional director of Jockey Club Racecourses North West, Dickon White, said: “In 2020 we donated 10,000 tickets for this year’s Randox Grand National Festival, which we were delighted to do. However, I am not sure any of us anticipated that we’d still be in the position we were in with the pandemic in April this year.

“We were fully committed to our donation of 10,000 complimentary tickets for NHS staff to show our gratitude and so we thought the sensible thing to do was to honour the donation and roll it forward to the 2022 Randox Grand National Festival. We look forward to welcoming 10,000 NHS heroes on day one of the 2022 event to show our appreciation for everything they have been doing for us and I am sure we will enjoy a fantastic NHS celebration on the day.”
