The Midlands Grand National takes place each March at Uttoxeter Racecourse over a distance of 4 miles, 2 furlongs and 8 yards. There are 24 obstacles over the length of the course and the prize purse is £150,000.

This race was first contested on May 3rd 1969 and the length has been modified several times since then. It has been contested at the current distance every year since 2004. TV coverage wasn’t forthcoming until 1980 when the race was shown live on Channel 4 and the BBC took control between 1998 and 2005 whereupon it returned to Channel 4 until 2016. Since then the race has been shown live on ITV Racing.
